Esmeralda County Health Fair Makes Significant Impact on Local Residents

Esmeralda County, NV 

Thanks to the dedicated efforts of the University of Nevada Reno’s Center for the Application of Substance Abuse Technologies (CASAT), Miranda Branson  and community partners, the recent Esmeralda Health Fair held on Friday, November 1, 2024, successfully provided health services and support to over 100 local residents.

The Xceleration team, including Diana Stater and Kim Riggs, played a crucial role in guiding attendees and coordinating an in-person Mobex demonstration at the event. The fair showcased the Silver Summit Managed Care Organization's new platform, Mobex, which facilitated essential service connections, including telehealth and direct referrals to vital services. The event addressed gaps in care related to real-time telehealth, food insecurity, suicide prevention supports, and more.

At the event, MTM’s Community Outreach team contributed to the well-being of the community by offering resources for transportation. Focused on eliminating transportation barriers faced by many Medicaid members in the rural areas, the team provided valuable information about Nevada's non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT) services. For those experiencing homelessness, understanding and accessing healthcare can be particularly daunting. MTM’s team played a crucial role in bridging this gap by explaining how NEMT services can remove transportation barriers, ensuring that individuals can access healthcare without hindrance.
